HOMEBOUND INSTRUCTION

Prior to the placement of any special education student on homebound instruction:

  • Prior approval of the Director of Special Education Services is required.

  • The student's home school will develop an IEP that must reflect that homebound instruction is required. Documentation on the IEP Addendum must include

    • Begin and end dates,

    • The amount of time required to ensure that the student is able to continue to participate in the general education curriculum, although in another setting, and to progress toward meeting the goals set out in the child's annual IEP.

    • The parent's consent on the IEP Addendum.

  • Certification of Need for Homebound Instruction (Form 100.07) will be completed and sent to the Director of Special Education.

Once approval has been received from the Director of Special Education:

  • It will be the responsibility of the student's home school to implement homebound instruction.

  • An appropriate homebound instructor will be secured for the student. Form 100.08 should be used to document necessary information to process homebound services.

  • Timesheets for services will be verified by an administrator or designee at the student's base school and forwarded to Central Office for processing of payment.

  • A copy of all paperwork related to homebound services should be maintained by the school administrator or designee coordinating homebound services for their base school.
