EDUCATIONAL SERVICES DURING
SUSPENSIONS

a separation bar

The school administrator shall ensure that services are provided to students who are suspended more than 10 days cumulatively during the school year.

In cases where the suspension is not a change in placement, services will be determined in consultation with the student's special education teacher (Form 80.05).

In cases where the suspension is considered a change in placement an IEP team will determine the appropriate services. In either case the services provided must:

  • Be sufficient to enable the student to progress in the general curriculum and advance toward achieving his/her IEP goals and objectives.

Please consult with Special Education Coordinator for guidelines for
long term suspensions or expulsions.
